How to Protect Our Environment
CONSERVATION is a very important word. It means to limit our use of things that come from nature like plants, animals, and water to preserve and protect our environment. Conserving is only using what we really need. We do this to make sure we have enough resources for future generations.
Below are some tips to help you conserve the environment:
- Help conserve water. Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth. Also, take shorter showers.
- Remember, anything you throw on the ground ends up in the gutter when it rains. The gutters are called stormdrains and they lead to our rivers, lakes, and oceans, where many plants, animals, and sea creatures live.
- Throw all trash in the garbage and remember to recycle your bottles and cans
- Turn off the lights when leaving a room
- Use cold water whenever possible because it uses less energy than hot water.
- Use reusable items. When you bring your lunch to school, use resuable containers and bags that can be used over and over again instead of paper and plastic bags that you usually throw away after one use.
