The City of Irvine is dedicated to creating and promoting an awareness of our natural community, while encouraging behaviors that will ensure the preservation of our open space wilderness for generations to come. The Community Services Department offers a wide variety of programs, activities, and event opportunities within the City’s park system and the Irvine Open Space Preserve.

Irvine Ranch Conservancy

The City’s partner in managing and providing public access to the Irvine Open Space Preserve is the Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC).  IRC is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-advocacy organization created in 2005 to help protect and connect the public to the natural open spaces of the historic Irvine Ranch.  The City and IRC work together through a contractual Management Agreement, under which IRC provides land management projects and public programs within the Irvine Open Space Preserve.  On behalf of the City, IRC offers a wide variety of outdoor programs for all nature enthusiasts including hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and many other educational and volunteer opportunities.
