What are the Requirements for C & D Materials?
In 2007, the City of Irvine adopted a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Debris Recycling and Reuse Ordinance (07-18) . Under this new ordinance, certain projects are required to recycle or reuse at least 75 percent of concrete and asphalt and 65 percent of all debris generated.
Does the New Ordinance Apply to My Project?
IMPORTANT NOTICE: To ensure consistency with the new California Green-Building Code, relevant amendments to the Municipal Code have been approved. Effective immediately, Chapter 9 of Section 6, Division 7 of the Irvine Municipal Code — the City’s Construction and Demolition (C&D) Debris Recycling and Reuse Ordinance (07-18) — has been amended.
Which Hauler Can Be Used for My Project?

Landfill Fee Increase!
To discourage landfill use and encourage greater recycling, the County of Orange has increased public landfill fees as follows:
- Large Trucks from $27 per ton to $46 per ton of waste disposed.
- Small Pick-Up Trucks (i.e. less than an 880 pound load) from $12 to $20 per load.
You can avoid this fee increase by recycling more and taking your waste and recyclables to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) or other recycling facility instead of the landfill.
