Materials Exchange Program

You can donate, exchange, or sell office furniture and electronic equipment when it is no longer needed. The State of California offers the CalMax program (1-877-520-9703) which allows you to either post or purchase items that have been listed by other businesses.

CalMAX’s mission is to build reuse markets for materials from businesses, organizations, industry, schools, and individuals, and to find markets for nonhazardous materials that may otherwise be discarded.

The commercial sector contributes 60 percent of the materials going to landfills. By reusing materials, the commercial sector conserves energy, resources, landfill space, and reduces disposal and purchasing costs. CalMAX is one tool to help jurisdictions, businesses, and organizations find alternatives to the disposal of valuable materials.
