Start A Recycling Program
There are Four Easy Steps to Starting a Recycling Program:
1. Find A Volunteer
Find a volunteer to serve as the Recycling Coordinator.
2. Obtain Information
The Recycling Coordinator should contact the City of Irvine which can provide your business with a list of permitted recycling collection companies, the recyclables they take, and a collection method. For information on a new incentive program that offers free waste audits and free recycling collection for eligible businesses please call the Irvine Recycles Hotline at (949) 724-7669.
3. Get Supplies
The Department of Conservation (DOC) offers free recycling starter kits for businesses. Order your free kit by visiting the bottles and cans website.
4. Spread the Word!
Once the collection method is decided upon, the Recycling Coordinator should then educate coworkers by e-mailing or posting a list of materials that can be recycled and the location of the office recycling bins.
