Dress to Leave Less
Halloween is the day where kids can be anything-pirates, Vikings, pumpkins, etc. But why don’t you teach them to also be environmentalists at the same time?. Here are some tips for dressing for the role.
- Recycle your costumes. Trade with friends and family to avoid buying new ones. Organize a costume swap at your local community center or church.
- Be creative. Use items that you find around the house. The best costumes tend to be the most-off-the-wall innovative costumes. You can also visit the local thrift stores for items that you may need.
- Check online for some ideas to make a homemade costume.
- Have your kids dress up like an endangered animal (penguin, polar bear, panda, etc.) and give them a quick lesson on what it means to become extinct and the importance of preserving nature.
- If you are using make-up, make sure that it is non-toxic.
